when you think of morgan freeman and intel, you don't tend to think of the actor and the technology company together. a new web venture between the two and revelations entertainment will now change that. the venture is a website that will allow independent movies to be offered online the same day they launch in theaters.the venture, called clickstar, will launch a new website with the technology beginning december 1. the date will correspond with the premiere of a new low-budget movie by morgan freeman called “10 items or less.” freeman will offer the movie through the clickstar website two weeks later. no price has been set for movie downloads.
in addition to paid content, the website will also offer free content through a channel called “jersey docs.” the channel will be hosted by danny devito and will highlight documentaries.

there shouldn't be too much of a surprise that there are many movie stars associated with this venture. in the same way some music artists are using the internet to distribute movies, hollywood actors and producers think it's a good means of distribution for movies as well.

it's a great idea. this is especially true for low-budget movies. why cut what may be only a small amount of profits by having to pay a good portion of sales to a traditional dvd distributor? if you did it online, then you maximize your profits.
many are probably scratching their heads trying to figure out how intel plays into all of this. the idea of the clickstar website is exactly what intel is looking for to promote its viiv technology
